I am Washington's Historic Harbor District Expert, specializing in unique properties throughout Beaufort County. I came to Washington on my boat, and felt at home! This town has one of the most interesting stocks of older and historic structures on the east coast. We have a vibrant downtown with wonderful boutique retailers. The public access to our river, The Pamlico-Tar is unrivaled! We have large waterfront parks, public boat launches and wonderful boardwalks along the river. I purchased the Old Fire Station in town, and converted the second floor to 2 Loft condominiums, in one of which I reside. The space is spectacular! I love living and working in Washington's Historic Harbor District! As beautiful as the setting is on the banks of the Pamlico River, it's the people who live here that make Washington and Beaufort County so special. I would love to share my sweet southern town, Washington and all of Beaufort County, NC with you!

Negotiating

It is a challenge to not take things personally when dealing with a particularly personal thing like real estate.  As a seller, when an offer is made on your property the best way to look at it is that someone is engaged in actively pursuing your property.  It will likely not be exactly what you […]

De-Clutter

If you are selling your home you need to de-clutter.  You’ve read it, you’ve heard it and you’ve been told by your agent.  Now, do it!  It is the easiest, least expensive, most effective way you can make your property stand out and get sold.  A seller who has priced his property to the market […]

The Importance of Designated Districts

Branding an area in a region, city or town is an excellent way to focus potential visitors and residents to what the area has to offer. In Washington, NC we have a Harbor District offering great public access to the Pamlico River and downtown shopping and dining. We also have a large National Register Residential […]

Is Reality TV “Real”?

I enjoy watching the great do it yourself and renovation shows on TV.  It’s interesting to see how different designers and craftsmen take a space that needs a face lift or a full gutting and demolition and transform it into a beautiful, livable area that increases the value of the property and enhances the lives […]

The Emotional Side of Real Estate

One of the many roles of a real estate agent is to separate the inherent emotionality of buying and selling property out of the real estate transaction. I’ve always prided myself as an agent who views real estate as a business, which in large part, it is. It is my role to protect and serve […]

When Did It Happen?

When did it happen? When did stairs in a house become a deal breaker for potential buyers? I understand the concern for some elderly or physically challenged people, and there are many no stairs options for them.  But, 30 and 40 year old somethings? Are you kidding me? Stairs are the original no cost, easy […]

I’m Not Giving it Away!

You’ve decided to sell your property, and you’ve been told that it is a buyer’s market but are not sure what that means. In a nutshell, that means that there is a substantial amount of inventory, houses for sale, and fewer buyers than sellers. So, when there is an active buyer they have many choices, […]

All Real Estate is Local

Recently, the national news has been encouraging about new home starts, increasing home sales and increasing prices. All good news on a national scale, and welcome news in Beaufort County. I am however, reminded of the old axiom, “All real estate is local.” What does this phrase mean? In simple terms it means local real […]

The First Step

The first step in house hunting may not be what you think. Yes, work with a REALTOR who understands your needs and desires in a property and who will represent your best interests. Yes, have an idea which neighborhood fits you. Yes, be flexible and open to different options. But, first contact a mortgage loan […]
